The Ulysses Quartet has been praised for their “textural versatility,” “grave beauty” and “the kind of chemistry many quartets long for, but rarely achieve” (The Strad), as well as their “avid enthusiasm ... [with] chops to back up their passion” (San Diego Story), “delivered with a blend of exuberance and polished artistry” (The Buffalo News). Founded in the summer of 2015, the group won the grand prize and gold medal in the senior string division of the 2016 Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition and first prize in the 2018 Schoenfeld International String Competition. At Juilliard, they recently were the Lisa Arnhold Fellows, serving as the School’s Graduate Resident String Quartet from 2019 to 2022. |

Poulenc Trio with Lia Purpura, narrator/writer This piano/oboe/bassoon trio has rediscovered and redefined piano-wind chamber music for the 21st century and has been praised by the Washington Post for its “convincing elegance, near effortless lightness and grace.” This program will feature a special pairing of Alfred Schnittke's Suite in the Old Style with a spoken word performance by Baltimore-based poet Lia Purpura, a frequent New Yorker contributor and winner of a Guggenheim Fellowship. Poulenc Trio includes Irina Kaplan Lande, piano; Alexander Vvedenskiy, oboe; and Bryan Young, bassoon. Her program includes pieces composed by Presti such as Segovia, Dance Rythmique, as well as Anido’s Aire de Vidalita, Triste No 1, and El Misachico and includes Anido’s Portrait, a four-movement piece dedicated to Anido by famed composer Sergio Assad. Ms. Rojas ranks among today’s foremost classical guitarists. She has been praised as “guitarist extraordinaire” by the Washington Post and by Classical Guitar Magazine as “Ambassador of the classical guitar.” |

Wynona Wang, piano Pianist Wynona Wang was selected as First Prize winner of the 2018 Concert Artists Guild International Competition, which is just the latest in a series of impressive first prize performances, along with the 2017 Wideman International Piano Competition in Louisiana. Wynona was also awarded the 2019 “Charlotte White” Career Grant awarded by the Salon de Virtuosi in New York City. An active performer in China, Europe and the United States, Wynona’s recent performances include appearances with the Northwest Florida Symphony Orchestra, the Meadows Symphony Orchestra of SMU in Dallas, and such major festivals as PianoTexas, the International Keyboard Institute & Festival in New York City, and the Chautauqua Institution. |

Sean Jones & Friends One of the world’s most in-demand jazz trumpeters, Grammy-winner Sean Jones is a musical chameleon and is comfortable in any musical setting no matter what the role or the genre. In this concert, he partners with a combo of Baltimore jazz luminaries to present a program of his own compositions alongside time-honored jazz standards. Sean has produced and released eight recordings on Mack Avenue Records, and from 2004 until 2010 he was lead trumpeter for the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra under the direction of Wynton Marsalis. |

Musicians and audience members alike have remarked that it is their favorite music venue in the region.
