This family-friendly concert begins with a spellbinding narrative performance of Humperdinck’s Hansel & Gretel, arranged for wind quintet and narrator and performed by BSO musicians alongside the charismatic recording artist and actor Wordsmith.

Join us for this program featuring Beethoven’s Moonlight Sonata and Liszt’s Hungarian Rhapsody No. 12 alongside works by Brahms, Kodaly, and Bartok. Sadberry intertwines “his virtuosic practice with a deeply personal history” (Post). As a winner of Concert Artists Guild’s 2021 Victor Elmaleh Competition, he has made acclaimed debuts with Chamber Music Detroit and Merkin Hall, among other venues. On this program, he presents music inspired by his late grandfather, a lauded journalist and unsung hero of the Civil Rights Movement, L. Alex Wilson. |

The New York Times describes his playing as “mature, lyrical, accurate, and energetic.” Spanning centuries and styles, this program includes works by Bonnet, Franck, Haywood, Price, Stoddart, Widor, and more, all played on the Casavant Freres Organ at Second Presbyterian Church. |
